error msg: Network Resource is unavailable when downloading XP service pack 3

If you are speaking of Service Pack 2 for Windows XP, you can order it on a CD from Microsoft for free.  Check this link:

If you are speaking of the SP3 preview, you should check directly on the The Hotfix site for suppor or for additional information.

I just updated from sp1 to sp2 but the computer prompted me by going to the website on its own, Is it supposed to do that and if so why isnt his doing it than? And I dont think there is a service pack three out yet I thought all of the new stuff was going to be for Vista.

Your computer should prompt you to download MS updates and Service Packs for Windows.  The "Service Pack 3" preview is not a Microsoft Service Pack.  It is actually a collection of Microsoft security updates through April 2,2006.  It has been published by "thehotfix" and is not supported by Microsoft.  If you really want to try it, check this link:

If you keep your computer up-to-date with MS updates, there is no reason to download this.

yes i use ms updates and i set it to automatic so there is no user problems.

As mentioned earlier, there is no such thing as SP3.  the latest Security pacth offered by Microsoft is either MS07-017 or 019 (exclsuive of the ones that came out yesterday)
