error report: winmg.exe

an error report keeps appearing on my computer saying:

winmg.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

It asks for me to send the error report to microsoft and i did but it didnt do anything. The error report started to appear after i have downloaded some things from the internet and my computer started to lag badly (sometimes it froze up). I have ran several virus scan ( MacAfee virus scan ) and it says that there are no viruses. I also ran a system error check and the result were normal. I dont know what to do and i am thinking of rebooting my computer.

Please help.

Could be a virus. Do a complete scan. Read this: http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/w32agobotcx.html

I did an online virus scan and found 25 viruses.

I manage to delete all but 6. It says that the virus cannot be access.

Is there anyway to delete the rest?

Anyways sorry about the double post

    lilazn,

You should have the names of the six remaining viruses. If you search on their names in Google you will probably get links to sites which will provide manual removal instructions. If not, your best option is to back up your perishable data and reinstall XP. See this.

Thanks I'll do that, but when i tried to delete those six viruses (now 5) it says "unable to clean the file 'C: ____   ' because it is currently in use for all of them.
