Excel Vista - I hate it & need an alternative

Question

I **HATE**  what Vista did to Excel.  I cannot find anything; cannot get work done, things are gone missing. I spend my time searching for my Excel tools. I want Excel XP back.  Will that run on my new Dell?   Is there anything (alternative software) like Excel that will run on my new Dell Inspiron 731 with the Vista Home Premium operating system?   kalar43

Use Office 2003, it works well in Vista, Uninstall Office 2007, install Office 2003, that is if you have a copy you own.

I agree with Mombodog. Just install the version you are comfortable with. I think Office XP has issues with Vista. Office 2003 works fine. 2007 works well also except for it is so different.   pcgeek11

Vista did absolutely NOTHING to Excel. Excel 2007 is the problem and it works exactly the same way on XP.

Open Office is OK if you do just simple spreadsheets. Most people need Excel. As stated, Office 2003 works fine on Vista, that's what I use and will use for as long as possible. I agree, Office 2007 is a terrible confusing mess.

If you do use Office 2003, download the free addon from MS that allows you to handle the new Office 2007 file formats.

I like the idea of using Excel 2003.  I do not own a copy of it, but I'll search the Internet and see what comes up.  I have   Yes, I meant that Excel 2007 is awful.  Why fix something that isn't broken?   Ah, yes, to sell a new product and make more $$$. Typical Micro$oft ;-/   Thanks for the suggestions. I will go forth and try them.   kalar43
