Extremely slow computer when Norton Internet Security is running
I have a Dell Dimension 4300 with Windows XP. When 2005 Symantec/Norton Internet Security does its system scanning for threats--my computer is extremely slow. My CPU usage is sometimes 100%. Is this normal? It is pretty much impossible for me to use my computer while one of these scans is taking place.

Norton is known to monopolize CPU time when it scans. The solution (other than replacing Norton with another product) is to schedule the scans during periods when you are not normally using the computer.
