FindFast auto update in SP2
I recently installed SP2 on my Dim 8300. After several reboots, everything seems to be working OK, after resetting my network Gateway and resetting some programs. All in all, not too bad.
My question: I notice that FindFast, which I have never used, is updating automatically on my Drive C and on my External HD, which I use as a backup for 2 computers (Images). I tried reading a little bit about the program, but I have no clue if this is a worthwhile thing to have running all the time. Does anyone know what the uses of this program are? I assume it assists when searching for files, etc. in search, which doesn't seem to work very well in XP. Any thoughts would be welcome. Thanks.

FindFast is an MS Office tool which you can safely disable.

I was able to follow the instructions from the link you provided and successfully disabled FindFast. However, I have several GB's in a file entitled Recycled, created by Find Fast, on my External HD. Find Fast has recreated all the images I had stored on the Ext HD. When I try to delete the file, a dialog box comes up saying I can't delete it as it is being used by another program. I have encountered this on other occasions, but don't know how to over come this. I opened the file and tried to delete each sub-file. They appeared to delete, but when I reopened the file they are still there. I tried rebooting after the deletes and they still won't delete. How do I delete this very large file, which is not serving any purpose but is taking up a large amount of space? Other that formating the HD, since i do have two computers imaged on it. Thanks.
