Great Job on Windows 7 Update, Dell
I was trolling on the site last week, and saw the Windows 7 update was going to be available on the 26th to US customers. Instead of waiting for an email, I logged in this morning. The Windows 7 upgrade was already in my cart. i just agreed to the export restrictions, and supplied my address, and I was done! No hassle, no $$. This was a great customer experience.

Did either of you get a confirmation email, order acknowledgement, or anything else of the sort? I got neither, and when I log in to check the status of my order I show nothing in the status or estimated ship date.
Just wondering!

I was able to complete the order on Oct 21st and received an order confirmation email from Win7Upgrade@dell.com. Have you checked your spam filer to make sure it was not placed there? As for your question about ship date, the email did not have much information other than it said that another email will be sent when it does ship.

No I haven't. I just knew it was coming available on the 22nd so I checked my order site, saw I could order it and that's it, put it in the cart and followed the instructions. I check back occasionally to see if any information is updated as far as ship date. I have a confirmation number so I assume it should be sent soon if not any day now.

Absolutly! Also in the FAQ Win 7 in this forum it gives dates which I assume would be when they send the OS out. English is showing October 26th.

I got my order confirmation about a minute after I ordered. But I imagine the web site is a tad more busy right now. I notice a LOT of people complaining. For heaven's sake, have a little patience! I tried to register for the update as soon as I got my computer, and got the 10-day notice. I came on this website, and saw they really meant it. So I waited about 5 days (I still have to learn some patience) and then I was able to register. I didn't wait for the email, but saw it was going to be available, and was very impressed that as soon as I logged on, it took me to my cart with the correct update, and no fees! Just calm down, and everything will work out. I guess now I understand how people get trampled at Walmart the day after Thanksgiving.

Congratulation on your easy upgrade. For me, not a so good experience. I've been trying to register since the 8 Sep 09 to no avail. Twice the nice person reading a script asked me to login to the upgrade site in order to register but when I make them understand that it doesn't work, I've been asked to email them and they will investigate further and they actually closed 2 open incidents. I reported this to their complaint department and did not get a reply yet. Did I say that I attempted to contact them 7 times...
I'm an experience computer analyst by trade and I have never treated my clients the way I was treated during these past two months.

Reg, I am sorry you are having problems. I remember reading about similar problems, and Dell reps asked people having problems to PM them. You might want to look for messages about trouble registering for the update - hopefully those reps are still employed!
