GX1 , Window XP . Processor running at 100% at idle .....
My proccessor (Celeron 1.4ghz iP3/T) is running at 100% at idle with only IE 6 , Outlook Exp. , & trilliam running . See my signture for system info. It is not a constant 100% . It will just max out inexpectly . The computer will not respond until the siezure is over . I'm not froze up , the mouse still moves . Anyone have ideas on what maybe running to max out the system ? All comments and suggestion are welcome . If you know of any MS XP tweaks (proccesses I could kill) send them on .

It may be a Trojan. According to this McAfee article, the "egghead" trojan creates a file with the name tcpsvcs.exe in the "C:\Windows" directory. The Trojan has been around for a long time, and should be detected by your antivirus software, as long as the definitions are current.
For a "second opinion", you might want to visit TrendMicro's "housecall" site, and let it run an online scan of your system.

Well this one I worked out on my own . It is a normal prccess . It is used to interface with UNIX . It is not needed as I read earlier . I stopped the service , Simple TCP\IP , and it greatly improved the performace . I am running 3% to 5% at idle now . It jumps to about 35% using to internet . This service according to MS is not installed at setup . It appears that the service , tcpsvcs.exe , continues to look for the UNIX that it is suppose to support . This takes 100% CPU resoruces . I hope the help someone else .
