TG1414,

Put your XP installation disk into the CD-ROM drive and reboot. You can format from within the XP installation routines.

Don't forget you need to go into the BIOS setup and set the CDROM to boot first.

cde3cvr,

CDROM does not have to be first in BIOS. If it is 2nd (after floppy), then when the computer boots up, if it finds the floppy empty, it will them go to the CDROM and boot from there.

I know how to get to the setup utility, but how do you set the order so it's Floppy, CDROM, Hard drive?  I can't believe that there isn't a basic Hard drive format built into XP that's just such a basic function.

Any one else ever notice that the FDISK command was removed from XP.  You can't even format the hard drive from a systems disk (head bashing computer) please help.
