Have to wait till March?

I just read that I have to wait till March to receive the copy of Vista I bought for my computer?  Whats with that?  I look at my receipt and I'm charged $10 for shipping and handling when this item is getting shipped at the slowest rate possible!  Come on Dell!  Make it so I can download and upgrade online AND ship me a CD if you are going to get me for a $10 shipping fee or get your act together!

Enough already, it is what it is. You and the millions that signed up and paid for your upgrade will just have to wait until dell gets it to you. all the will not get it to you all any faster i Guarantee .

But maybe the more people complain, the more Dell will see where they are failing...

Customer service used to be the banner that Dell waved...maybe Michael Dell can bring that back...because I have seen little or none of it in the last few years...

We have every right to complain abou this...what is so express about this upgrade?

If you don't want to hear it anymore, then don't read the posts....

your right but at the end of the day it's all about money. Having said that that's why everything is going off shore and our great country is going down the tubes in a hand bag. Lets not open that bag of worms.

Well, maybe the fact that I got body checked with that information made it a little difficult for me to get my point across.  The idea when I bought my new computer and got the upgrade was that when the new OS was released I would be one of the first in line to get it.  Obviously, I wasn't going to have it on the day of release, but sitting in a warehouse somewhere was a copy of the new OS with my name on it with about $6 worth of postage and then what about $4 worth of "handling" fees.  I would have some time to install the software prior to me installing a bunch of software on the computer and then having to worry about the headaches of program conflicts with the new OS (like apparently the Norton Anti-Virus software that I bought conflicts with it).  When I bought the computer from the telephone representative that was one of the reasons I got the addition was because the upgrade was going to come so fast.  Dell could have worked out an agreement with Microsoft that people who purchased this upgrade from Dell could have downloaded the software for a one-time install and then a back-up CD was shipped to the customer in-case the person ever had to do a subsequent reinstall.  Then, I could be using this system to its full potential and know that I have every item I bought when I thought I was going to get it.  I didn't think that I would still be waiting for part of my computer shipment to arrive 4 months after I received my system.

Dell allows you to download a ton of other software and there is really no reason that something couldn't be worked out either through Dell's website or Microsoft's if Microsoft was so concerned about security.  I'm sure the issue isn't totally with Dell, we all know Microsoft doesn't care, but Dell could ride them a little harder about customer support.

Just me, but I know if I told one of my clients "look, I'll get your case dismissed."  And it doesn't get dismissed until 10 years later, someone is going to want to nail my to the wall and know why I didn't do something.  Why can't we hold Dell to that standard?

My friend has a HP that he bought at the same time as I bought my dell and he signed up the same day as i did for the vista upgrade reason i know this is because he used my internet to sign up.  He has already got his new OS and had me install it for him.  I guess it was a kind of bragging that HP ship his out before Dell did and then he said "so I thought you said that HP is , I guess HP has better customer service than Dell." I replied with Dell's are still better than HP even if they have customer service.

Realize that this delay is not entirely Dell's fault.  Im using an XPS 700 and the drivers for the Nvidia 7900 GS and Creative X-FI card are laughable at best.  Both Nvidia and Creative should be mocked into eternity for the very poor and relaxed ways they have handled this transition to Vista.  It's as if they have had 1+ year and did nothing but wait till the very last minute to start writing drivers.

So before blaming Dell, be glad they did not ship you a copy of Vista where your video and audio experience is very poor.  Dell is waiting on these 3rd parties to get their drivers in order to ship you a driver disc which works correctly for your computer.

Im using Vista Ulimate which I purchased myself, the Nvidia driver does not support SLI, the fan on the gpu is constantly loud running at 40% because of the poor drivers.  The creative x-fi card keeps popping, the audio has to be reselected in the control panel to work again after any reboot of the machine and when the audio does work it is very quiet.  Both of these companies claim they will have drivers available by March/April.

What about those of us who have up to date drivers (all available on their site) and purchased a Vista-ready machine under the pretense that our upgrade would be 'express' meaning fast... I believe dell is fumbling through this on all bases, from the website to the lack of expediency in processing these orders. We have all be duped into beefing up their year end sales numbers... This is a shining example why there is a change at the reins of this company. They took their eyes off the prize...people should stop defending poor customer service...
