HELP -- How do I open File type .eml in Windows 98SE -- HELP!
I am really hoping someone can help me with this! Last weekend I had to wipe my hard disk clean and reinstall Windows 98SE. Now comes the fun part -- fixing all the glitches from a clean install.
I receive a lot of forwarded emails that bear the file extension .eml. I also have a LOT of business correspondence of this file type saved on my disk. Problem is, I can't read any of it. I did the Shift-RightClick trick, and selected Open With. I browsed to Outlook Express 5.0 (msimn.exe) and selected that program to open the .eml files. Now, when I click on the file, Windows opens Outlook Express, but doesn't open the file! I really need to get this fixed ASAP.
I remember having this problem years ago, and it seems to me the fix was fairly simple. I just don't remember what it is! So much of my business correspondence is saved on my hard disk with the .eml format, and I can't access any of it! This is a BIG problem to me, and any assistance would be appreciated to a ridiculous degree :-) Thanks!

"To resolve this behavior, either run the MISMN executibale file with the /reg option to force Outlook Express to re-register its file types, or re-register the .eml file type in My Computer.
(NOTE: I did Option #1, and it worked right away)
To run the MSIMN executable file with the /reg option:
1. Quit Outlook Express
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. In the Open box, type: "mismn /reg" (without the quotes), and then click OK.
Voila! .eml files now open correctly!
