Help - Restore Dell Factory Image

Hi, I have a Inspiron 3521 laptop and I am doing a factory restore as mentioned in this article.  http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/04/KCS/kcsarticles/articleview?docid=608277

But in the Step 9, 'select the backup you want to use in the list below', I get empty list. Does that mean my laptop doesn't have a factory image?

Hi raj75,

The factory image needs to be created using a Dell backup and recovery software which is present in the computer once this is done you may find the image in step 9. If this application is missing you may use the below link to install it: and follow the instructions mentioned in it (if you are able to boot to windows):

However, do let me know the reason why you are restoring the computer back to factory state.

Do reply with your answers.

Hi Kiran,

Thanks for your reply. I have 2 questions

1) I thought the factory image is already present in Recovery partitions. I have following partitions, what does these partitions contain, if not the factory image??

EFI System Partition - 500 MB

OEM Partition- 40 MB

Recovery Partition - 490 MB

2)  The laptop already has got 'Dell backup and recovery'. Is there any steps/guide to create factory image, using 'Dell backup and recovery'?

Thanks,

Rajesh

Hi Rajesh,

The factory image present in the computer will be anywhere between 8GB to 16GB. However, it looks like the partitions that you have mentioned do not have the factory image. Request you to send me the system service tag via private message. I will check and see what can be done.
