HELP! VISTA NOT INSTALLING ON MY XPS 400!!

Just received from newegg my vista home premium 32 bits, happily put the dvd in, the vista install screen comes up says to check for system compatiblity or install, having an xps 400 with intel 820 2.8 ghz 2gb pc5300 ram, i clicked install...2nd screen checked the update information online.that went fine,,, came to this screen ENTER YOUR PRODUCT KEY , basically i had 2 choices, enter the product key and click next OR cilck next and enter product key at a later date. On either screen after i click next entering the key or not enter the key (if u dotn enter u can choose to enter it at a later date)

At this screen, the computer just hangs. bottom left says collecting info, but i went to the task manager and computer is basically not responding and i had to shut it down. I did both says, enter product key and it hung, and i chose to skip it and not enter it still hung, basically i was not able to even get to the screen that lets me choose UPGRADE or CLEAN install...

any opinion would be greattttttttttttttttttttttttttly appreciateddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

For thos big XPS monsters with RAID and SATA drivers, you wil lneed to supply the drivers.  F6 during the initial install process.

howard, go here and download the Vista Advisor and run it on your 400.

it should be able to tell you about any potential issues with Vista compatability/drivers with your system.
