High Memory Usage
I just bought a new laptop for a week. When i start my computer, the memory usage is about 50-60% although i don't do anything. I think there are a lot of hiding system programs and Dell programs. Can you give me any ideal to fix this problem. Thanks and sorry for bad English.

skywar,
Since you did not mention your computer model. Some computer share system memory with the Video. You can follow the information below to view what is using the memory. Click the youtube video below for information on fixing memory issues. Also, you may want to add more memory as well to the computer.
go to task manager -> show processes from all users
or
resource monitor -> memory and see what is taking up so much of your memory.

The thing that makes RAM compression work so well now is multi-core
processors. In a lot of cases you won’t notice a performance hit from
the compression/decompression because the work is being done on an
otherwise under-used core. Also, since comp/de-comp are simple processes
for your CPU and the read and write are both to memory, the process is
very fast.
I’m really glad Windows has this feature now.

I've been using Dell Inspiron 3780 with 8GB RAM and Windows 10 since late autumn. My problem is a similar one to what's written above. Just after turning on the computer, when no web browsers or other programms except those, which are "built-in" by manufacturer, are being launched, I check memory usage and find that about 3 - 3.5 GB is being used. When I launch web browser with 15 tabs opened memory usage tends to "dangerous" point of 75 % or 6 GB.
Of course, I tried to use techniques given in video shared by DELL-Jesse L, but it didn't help to decrease memory usage.
I want to figure out is it a problem or not and how to cope with it.

ZuccerSerg,
15 tabs open is a lot. Try opening fewer tabs. You can also delete programs running in the background by pressing cntrl+ alt+del and choosing task manager. End task on some programs that aren't used as much. You can also delete temporary internet files. Reboot the computer.
Also, you can add up to 16 gigs of memory to your system. Below are your memory specs.
Slots
Two SODIMM slots
Type
Dual-channel DDR4
Speed
Up to 2400 MHz
Maximum memory
16 GB
Minimum memory
4 GB
Memory size per slot
4 GB, 8 GB, 16 GB
Configurations supported
•4 GB DDR4 at 2400 MHz (1 x 4 GB)
•8 GB DDR4 at 2400 MHz (2 x 4 GB)
•8 GB DDR4 at 2400 MHz (1 x 8 GB)
• 12 GB DDR4 at 2400 MHz (1 x 8 GB + 1 x 4 GB)
• 16 GB DDR4 at 2400 MHz (2 x 8 GB)
• 16 GB DDR4 at 2400 MHz (1 x 16 GB)

Hi @DELL-Jesse L ,
Thanks for your help. I have a dell G3 3579 with 4GB RAM. I also face the same issue with 70% of RAM being already used at the start of laptop. Also I don't find any service named superfetch in services.msc.
Kindly let me know if there is any solution to diagnose or fix the issue, or putting more RAM is the final solution.

I'm having the same problem. Originally, my computer was using 4 gigabytes of RAM on startup. To try to fix this, I reinstalled a clean version of Windows. Everything was good (I was using 1-2gb RAM on startup) until I reinstalled SupportAssist, AWCC, and Alienware update manager. Now uses 3.5 gigabytes of RAM on startup.
Dell, I love the design of your apps, but please optimize them! They are slow and take up tons of RAM.
For reference, I'm using an Alienware m15 with an i7-8750h, 16gb 2666mHz RAM, and an Nvidea gtx 1060 6gb. With the discrete gpu, very little ram is used for video.

The superfetch service is now called SysMain.

Firstly, you can check which services or apps are occupying your RAM on Task Manager. (Shortcut: Ctrl + Shift + Esc)
As shown in the picture below.
You can disable the services or apps that occupy high RAM.
Then, you can refer to some tips & tricks to reduce high RAM usage effectively. Is RAM Usage High? 12 Ways to Free up RAM in Windows 10/8/7
Hope it help!!

High memory usage or slow speed has a lot of reasons.
These will fix a lot of bugs, and reduce your memory space. You can even go for free cleaner apps like cCleaner.
Thanks

Hello!
I'm trying to solve a problem with Dell SupportAssist following the instructions displayed on this article <https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000223371/high-memory-usage-due-to-supportassistagent-exe>
However, one file that has to be downloaded got a broken URL <http://dl.dell.com/serviceability/catalog/SupportAssistx64-4.0.3.61632.msi>
I just need this file (SupportAssist .msi) so I can progress on manually updating the software.
Does anybody have this file?
