How can I create my own recovery image?

Hello,

first I have to say, that my english is not so good, I come from germany and learnd only the school english and I have to admit, that I were not the best ;)

Ok, the Situation: I have a Inspiron 9300 with an preinstalled recovery image. The technic of Dell, that I only have to push a shortcut while boot-process to install the recovery image inspired me ;)

But the image from Dell is not that what I want, I don't need the McAfee AntiVir and some other Options but what I need takes a long time when I reinstall it. There is e.g. my webserver-test-environment, which I have allways to install and configurate! So it were a good thing when there were a chance to create my own image, with my preinstalled software!

Could someone help me??

This is great software here, you can create your own recovery partition with a recovery image of your entire drive, It allows you to access it at boot with the F11 key. Read the documentation (PDF user guide) at the right, look for Acronis Recovery Manager in the PDF to see what it can do for you.

I bought now Norton Ghost. But I've another Problem... The partition is hidden, is there any (free) way to replace the hidden partition without partition magic??

If you're looking to replace the contents of the hidden partition so that you can use CTRL F11 to replace YOUR custom installation, that's a bunch of work. I've seen at least 1 person that's done it. Dan Goodells site is where you need to do some research to learn more about how Dell has setup the system.

Personally, I use Norton Ghost to save the image on my network, using the key combination really has little value to me.
