How Do I Create A System Restore Disk?

I would be interested in your response, I have a friend in the same situation.

I found this, does it apply to you?

Good question, I would contact Dell and tell them that either 1) You did not receive a Reinstallation CD or 2)You did not recieve the Dell OS Recovery Utility.

It is possible the utility is on Dell's FTP site, but I don't know what the file name would be.

There may be someone else that can answer your question better, but if you get it resolved, after contacting Dell, it would be appreciated if you would post your resolution.

Dell PC Restore is on a hidden disk partition, and can restore your system to factory delivered state (you will loose all data on the system drive you did not back up).

Of course, this information is in your owner's manual (Page 60), but no one ever seems to read those things.

The short of it is, to use it, hit [CTR]+[F11]during boot when you see the blue bar with "www.Dell.com" at the top of the screen, and follow the instructions.

All this of course, does you no good if the hard drive crashes.

You might get a CD through asking Dell for one - Dell stopped sending them out automatically as part of a "media reduction initiative" ... except I think for XPS 600 owners.

I think there was a procedure for creating it from the contents of your disk drive ... search the FAQ's on these forums.

You can't make a restore disk.  Dell now uses a restore partition created with Ghost.  See CTSkydiver's post above for directions, or your manual.
