I've done that. Then when I turn the computer off, then on, the touchpad is enabled again even though the device tab says it's disabled. I have to enable it, click apply, then disable it, click apply. It will work until I turn off the computer. Surely there is a way to make it permanent since it worked until the last month or so.
thanks,
Linda

I have a Dell Vostro 1500, service tag Service tag removed per privacy policy>, express service code Express service code removed per privacy policy>. I cannot disable the touchpad. I have gone into device manager, uninstalled the HID compliant mouse and re-installed the drivers. Now the touchpad shows up, but there is no option to disable. I am running Windows 7 Professional, 64 bit. My mouse is a Logitech MS-570, which I suspect might be the problem since it is wireless and does not directly plug into the USB port. It is most disconcerting to have the cursor jump all over the place when I am typing. Does anyone know how to fix this?

None of this is working for me. I've tried changing the settings, I've tried disabling the driver completely. No matter what I do, the touchpad responds. Whyyyyyy???

I even reinstalled the driver. Pressing Fn+F3 does nothing.

Is there a way to do it without installing the driver? I want it NOT to work AT ALL. Isn't there a registry I can delete or something?

Hi
I have a dell vestro 1700 laptop
And the touchpad is really causing problems when typing. So I am trying to disable it. I have an exterior mouse.
My F3 key has no touchpad picture. My fn key is blue ,not orange. There is no picture that is like a touchpad at all. And I pushed them all after hitting the fn key and it did not disable the touchpad.
When I go to mouse properties in control pad, there is no option for the touchpad at all. Only the mouse.
So, how do I disable the touchpad?
By the way, I had to retype the whole message here because the touchpad screwed up and erased my original message. A common and annoying event to be sure.

Upgrade to windows 10, the drivers were not the right ones for both the battery and the touch pad. When you upgrade windows 10 will put new drivers in for both. Now I can turn the touch pad off using the Fn + F5 key and I do not keep getting battery low warning when using ac power anymore.

On my Latitude E5520, it looks like the key to disable the touchpad is FN+F5. It also doesn't seem to do anything, as the touchpad is still active after the keystroke.
I had previously disabled the t-pad, but now it's come back somehow. I tried to install a new driver (v.8.1200.101.127), but the install fails every time with the following log:

The only mouse that shows up in Device Manager is the USB mouse I have attached.
I have tried "run as administrator," but that didn't work either.
This is a huge nuisance. I hope you can help.
