How to detect spyware ??

Question

I have been reading about this 'spyware'.  How can I tell if I unkowingly have somehow gotten 'spyware' on my system?  And if I do detect it, what is the best way to get rid of it?  Especially when Dell show the following message:  Use of spyware removal software may conflict with user license agreements of other applications installed on your system. Please consult your user license agreements for further information. Dell does not endorse the use of spyware removal software and cannot provide support on these products.   Sounds very intimidating to a new user! Thanks!

As a policy Dell does not endorse third-party software products. The statement you reference has intimidated several new users who interpret it to mean that Dell is recommending against the use of such programs, which is not the case.

One of the best (and one which is kept current through frequent updates to its database) is Spybot, which you can download here. Run it and it will locate any suspect files on your system and allow you to get rid of them.

If you have been on the Internet at all, you can be sure that the program will find something.

make sure to run updates after you install spyware software. also make sure you are running the latest version and updates before each scan. also run www.pestscan.com after running spyware software scan, this scanner will show what they left behind.
