How to install drivers (taken from other systems) ?
I have a Dell Studio 1558 and I recently formatted my Hard Disk Drive (HDD). I lost all my data and also the drivers (Official) for the hardware components that I recently installed. I am also planning to install Windows 8 and so, I read all the threads about this topic to be aware of the dangers, and solutions to the problems. While browsing through many threads, I came in front of Windows 8 drivers for Dell Studio 1558 (Drivers taken from other systems.), which were posted by "natakuc4." I want to install those drivers, but how? Should I just install them as-it-is, i.e. in C://dell/drivers/whatever...... OR should I replace it with the old files of the component being updated in C://dell/drivers/RXXXXXX ???

You should create a new one, there is no need to replace old driver folders. Also this is just extracting the driver, not installing it. Similar to opening a .zip file.

Not sure what you are asking, but if you have a driver for the same device but from a different system, then just run the file ... it should install just fine.

Why are you wanting to run Windows 7 drivers on Windows 8, when we (me and several Studio 1558 users) have listed some drivers which are Windows 8 drivers and should work better with the Studio 1558?

Install the latest BIOS update:
A12 http://ftp.dell.com/bios/R301434.exe
Follow my wiki A Clean Install of Windows 8
Install the drivers here in the order listed:
http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/w/laptop/4232.studio-1558-windows-8-64-bit.aspx
Copy them to a USB stick and just run the files, make sure they extract and a setup runs.

You have upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8. If anything was incompatible the upgrade advisor should have prompted you to uninstall it. I would avoid uninstalling anything unless you find a specific problem. The Windows 8 drivers should update the existing drivers.
