There is no way to get a reinstalaltion DVD shipped with the system. US customers can request one using an online form and it usually works out okay they get the media free of charge however there are some cases where they must phone technical support and this is problematic. European customers and other customers must also phone Dell technical support. Phoning of technical support leads to:
• Customers being refused media and being told they must get it off Microsoft. • Microsoft then tell the custmer they must get it off Dell. • Dell telling customers they must purchase a enw license of Microsoft. • Dell telling customers they do not do reinstallation DVDs. • Dell charging European custmers up to £30-£60 for media and sending the same media to US customers for absolurtely free, • There being no download .iso for the OEM OS.
I also had an assortment of ideas on IdeaStorm with regards to clean installation. You may vote on the poll and these IdeaStorm ideas if you agree with them. Good luck!
But I really do not understand the policy of Mikrosoft and Dell.I made a mistake that I ever bought a Dell computer.
Tell me how to installed Win 8 oem. I have purchased a license. The product key is stored on my motherboard. One week I'm looking for win 8 oem. That could be installed a on my computer. But I can not install win8, even though I have a license.
But I found a mile pirated versions that can be downloaded and installed in two hours. Now let me explain someone who supports piracy. I or Mikrosoft or Dell?
Crazy paranoid people.
Now I'm working in Ubuntu. Funny no pirated versions I have not found. I am very disappointed. Too bad money for a product that does not work and which do not have support.
I agree with you and have been one of the most vocal about problems with installation media. Microsoft have been hammered with negative feedback all over these boards, Microsoft Answers and other forums. Rumours are that they are going to address these issues with Windows 9. The popularity of the workaround sin my installation guides now over 1 million views also demonstrates the amount of users looking for workarounds.
Dell support is limited with Microsoft products because they have their hands tied. Microsoft will support Windows better but charge you for a full retail license... Dell provide a means of making recovery media when the system is new with Dell Backup and Recovery. The problem is that:
Most users will not make recovery media or only look for it when theres a problem
The Recovery Media does not allow for a true clean installation
The thing is all other OEMs will have the same issues. One good thing to note is that Dell have improved with telephone support media requests since the first posts of this thread.

You can install Windows 7 but you will need to purchase a Windows 7 license.

Ubuntu is free and easy to download. Open source products do not care about product activation or piracy.
Dell used to include a Reinstallation DVD with every computer but Microsoft stopped them from doing that.
You can use an unofficial download alongside my notes to clean install, i.e. input the generic product key:
http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/a-clean-install-of-windows/microsoft-product-activation/obtaining-your-oem-bios-embedded-slp-product-key-using-rw-everything-oem-only/
Alternatively you can request media by calling Dell technical support.

If we talk about support, then Dell sucks even more than Microsoft.
