I have recently been having a problem when using Internet...

I have recently been having a problem when using Internet Explorer that I am seeking help with.  When I exit out or close a site a prompt comes up that says "Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." It then gives me the option in the prompt of whether I want to send the error report or not.  Any suggestions on how to correct this?
Thank you.

Try cleaning out the temporary internet files folder using Tools/Internet Options

Go to Start/Run and type in     sfc /scannow     hit OK, have your xp cd ready in case it asks for it.

space between   c   and   /        when it is done, reboot and try IE again.

Well actually it does not tell you what has been done, it checks critical system files for corruption and correct file size, replaces them without notification.

Any improvement in IE?

Unfortunately no, if I open up a picture within a site and then try to close it that's when the error pops up and kicks me out of IA, frustrating!
