I  have the same problem with my Inspirion E1705 running 32B Vista Home Premium.  Lost all sound and had to uninstall the Creative Software.  Been on line with Dell and Creative and they keep saying the other ones responsible " Pass the Buck ".   But what kills me is that if you get a e1705 from Dell today and build the components , they offer the Audigy MB software.   Looks like the Notebooks come with XP and you get a free upgrade to Vista, But !!! when you purchase the Audigy with XP it is fine,,,if you upgrade it is useless.    I know Dell has had numrerous calls about this conflict then why do they no post a clause with this option and say if you upgrade to Vista, Audigy will not work????   Then the way the options are worded, when you buy a Dell, you think you would be getting a Sound Blaster Card (Not just a software application).  Instead you get a Sigmtel Card... Dell claims they are the same , but DUH !  why doesnt it work.   I am sure if there was a Audigy Sound Card in the notebook, we would not be having all this forum Discussion.
