IE 6.0 Error Message!
Hi all,
Whenever I request IE to load a page which does not exist, (sometimes it's just my spelling mistake, or a broken link to a site which doesn't exist anymore), instead of giving me a regular error message (like Error 404, etc.) a message pops out:
"Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the incovenience."
"If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost."
"Please tell Microsoft about this problem." - (options are: Send Error Report / Don't Send)
I'm getting this messages many times daily, and then all IE windows are closed. Even if I have 15 windows open! I then have to reload all the pages, if I'm lucky enough to remember all those addresses.
Is this a bug or something? I never had this problem with IE 4.0, 5.0, 5.5. Only now with IE 6.0.
Can somebody help me out, or point me to a good place to ask for help? Thank you all.

When you get the error message, click on the link to "Show details", then write down and report the AppName and ModName involved in the error. With that information, we may be able to help.

It would be very helpful to know which version of Windows you are running. See if any of the following help:
http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winme/t1071575339
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318153
Also this is known problem if you have Gator installed on your computer. If this is the case, you likely have other spware and internet parsites. To see how to get rid of this garbage, go to the Virus Information and Removal forum and read the message by ChrisRLG posted at the top of that forum.

I have had that exact same error message. I got the error the first day I had my computer and I just got my computer about 2 weeks ago. I have a dimension 2400 with windows xp. I have upgraded to 1.28 GB of ram and dsl, and hard drive upgrade hoping it would take that message away but nope. So, i saw this forum and read up on it and i have reinstalled IE 6 and i will keep you posted to see if it works. So far so good. Hope this helps.
