If Vista has constant disk activity on startup, Try This.....

I noticed on my Inspiron 1501 that when the computer goes to the desktop, there is constant disk activity for 40 seconds up to a minute. Sometimes more. I found that the Roxio Media Detector was to blame for most of the constant activity.

Right click its icon and go to its options to prevent it from starting. You do not need this anyway as its useless and will speed up your start time to the desktop even more.

I am also a subscriber of Object Desktop from Stardock and they released a new product called Tweak Vista which i have been using as well to make Vista more livable. I think they have a public beta out now that everyone can try.

I'm going to try this Roxio tip tonight when I get home.  My harddrive never stops churning now that I have Vista.  Well, it maybe stops churning after about 30 minutes.  I heard the built in indexer causes most of it.  I have to admit, I do really like the way everything is indexed now.  Seems like I can find anything at the Start menu.

I do like Vista very much, I just wish the darn harddrive would stop clicking!   :smileyvery-happy:
