Inspiron 11-3000 laptops win10 1511 boot problem

Install Dell System Detect and let it scan your computers for updated drivers.

Did that several times. At this point I've scrapped the 1511 Windows 10 release and went back to the last one. Have to jump through a couple hoops to get it not to update to 1511 but once I've got that done all seems okay. I'll keep an eye on the driver update page and see if they release anything new that addresses this problem.

Dell inspiron 3147, Upgraded to Win10.

Received 1511 yesterday and... my laptop completely unusable after reboot.

It's so annoying, argh!..

Just curious if any of you guys have any of the other weird issues I'm having besides the blank screen situation. As I originally posted, I have both a 11-3147 and an 11-3148. The 11-3148 has had 4 different bios revisions. I've noticed that every bios revision since A00 has caused the "plugged in not charging" issue. The latest A07 release initially seemed to solve this problem but just tonight it popped up again. I have to unplug and plug it back in and it will start charging. If I do this a few times it will go ahead and charge. I've tried the new charger from the 3147 and get the same thing so I know it's not the charger. If I revert back to A00 it never fails although the computer seems to be a little more flakey with sleep mode not working and sometimes not wanting to wake up properly. The 3147 which is new, doesn't have the plugged in not charging issue at all that I've seen so far. However since installing Win10 sleep mode doesn't seem to work at all on it. I've read that perhaps it 's the video drivers. I haven't installed all of the Dell applications from the driver update page yet but on my 3148 I didn't see where any of them helped when it was having similar issues. With my 3148 it seemed like the latest bios update fixed a lot of that stuff. Ever since it sleeps and wakes up like it should especially closing the lid to put it to sleep and opening it to wake it up works perfectly now. My 3147 though will simply shut the computer down instead of sleeping. It does seem to hibernate though. Really goofy stupid problems that seem to be sucking all of my time up. Sorry for the long post, I'm just hoping one of you might have some insight into this other stuff too. Thanks

I should add that the 3147 seems to post way slow since it's last bios update the other day. I believe it's A09 at this point. Both have SSD's in them and once you get to the point where the OS is loading up they go super fast but the 3147 takes 15 to 20 seconds to even get to this point. The 3148 only takes a few seconds. Went through all the bios settings which are pretty lacking and didn't see any options in there to speed it up. I read one article that said unchecking fast boot in the power settings actually might fix it. I'll give that a try tomorrow (It's at my office right now) to see what happens and if anything I'll try reverting the bios and see what happens there. I really don't want to go back to Win8.1 but if I can't iron out all these odd problems I just might.

I updated mine to A09, and post might be just a bit slow but not by much.  On my other Inspiron (not 3147), the latest Windows Update (not 1511, the latest latest after 1511), makes it "pauses" for 2, 3 seconds in blank screen, when boots and coming out of sleep/hibernation.

I had this same problem right after the 1511 update was made available. I was able to get the update to install with no errors.  I could even shut it down and start it back up.  However, every restart would bring up the Dell logo and then a black screen (backlight on).   With a bit of key pressing, I could boot into safe mode.  Occasionally, I could get into full Windows mode but the restart would not work properly.

I reverted back to an image taken before the 1511 update. Several tries later, I had no success getting restart to work properly.

My Dell 3147 was upgraded to the inexpensive 480 GB Sandisk Ultra 2 for $110.

I am running bios A7.

To the good news, I did an unhide of the 1511 upgrade and upgraded to the 1511 update.  After checking for other Windows updates, I was able to restart correctly several times.

I did not do anything differently other than have 2 1/2 months of Windows updates.  I did upgrade to the latest touchpad release.

BTW, I did upgrade to the latest touchpad driver.  Someone else reported that this fixed the black screen on restart issue.

I can solve the problem by flipping the display 2-3 times and the screen is on and the notebook boots again normally. So weird but it does work. Hope this can help!

I just upgraded to windows 10 and got same issues with black screen.

Closing the lid wont make the inspiron go sleep, it just keeps depleeting the battery till it is dead.

And no your Support Assist utility is not solving that.

Agreed! My computer does not wake up from sleep after upgrading BIOS to version A10 for Inspiron 11 3147 running Windows 10 1607 (anniversary Edition). Please update the BIOS and fix this issue. For now I have just disabled sleep altogether from my laptop. I cannot hard reboot each time the computer goes into sleep.
