Inspiron 1525. Drivers for Windows XP??

Hi people, I've just bought an Inspiron 1525 with Ubuntu 7.10.

After calling Dell and getting no answer about the weird, strange and bad partition of the disk,

(a FAT32 partition, a SWAP LOGICAL! 6GB partition, ...) I managed to enter the chat and I did clear, in some way,  my doubts.

Well, the fact is that I install WinXP, but the Dell's CD (the one that comes with the package,

label is something like "....DELL for reinstall, USB camera....") has NOT include a single driver for that OS.

From my dialup connection (yes, believe it) I spent a lot of time donwloading the drivers from support.

But they all are just .exe and NOT a single one worked on the system.

The thing is I'm lost, I don't know if they miss my CD with the Drivers or

if it's something I'm forgetting or I just don't know.

I apreciatte any help you guys could give me.

Thanks!

Hi

You do know if Dell does not have XP drivers to download there is not going to be a drivers CD for it right?

Dell { {Never}} did plan to have XP on that computer so there is no XP drivers!

You might mix and match drivers from other computer to get it to work !

Good Luck

Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, I Know now. After reading your and "talking" with the support.

So I figured out they fool me, saying that I will be able to install XP...

Like i said in the other post you might get it working by mix and matching drivers .

Go to the laptop forum and look around someone may have posted a workaround for XP!!
