Inspiron 6000 Shut Down
Why does it take so long to shut down the computer after you select STOP? It is two to three minutes for the system to shut down, and even longer if the Wi-Fi had been turned on and then off. I understand that a lot of files have to be saved, but if I did not open any software, how many files could there be. I tried to install a fast desktop shut down Icon, but that would not work on this computer. Is there any way to track the shut down procedure with visual clues?
Inspiron 6000 intel Penitum M 715 with Windowes home edition SP 2, 512MB Dimms.

My concerns would be:
* Are all critical Windows patches up to date?
* What is your Anti-virus program, version and signature revision level?

BBraxton, it is a brand new purchase, I would think that it is up to date. Because it is a gift for Christmas, it is not connected to the internet, so I can not up date any software.
It is runing Norton software, but I do not know the version number as of now.
I read in another thread about removing Nvidia from the control panel, Administrative tools, Service, to stop the Nvidia Helper Service. I have not tried that yet.
