Inspiron 6000 - svchost.exe
I am using an Inspiron 6000 running Windows XP Professional.
On occasion, an svchost.exe process with take up all of my CPU resources for an indefinite period of time. I searched the Web for this process name and found that it has to do with networking. There are many svchost processes running at any given time. I have taken to terminating the offending process when it starts to use 100% CPU. I have not observed any ill effects of killing it.
How do I deal with this problem (besides killing the process)?
Thank you in advance for your support.

Start/Run and type in
msconfig
OK
Keep the page open then go to link below. It will tell you what all the entries are and whether you can disable them or not. It will also identify any malware. Disable everything which is not needed to run at start up
