Installation of NORTON INTERNET SECURITY

After I download NORTON INTERNET SECURITY 2004 ,  either from the disc or the internet , when the installation begins I get the message "This MSI must be launched through SETUP. When I press"OK" the message reads "Installation encountered a error and is unable to continue."  Any help I can get will be appreciated!  Using Windows xp.

With 2004, you may need to turn off the Windows firewall, particularly if you have installed SP2.  You will then have to download the appropriate patch from Symantec in order to have you 2004 to work fully with XPSP2.  I hope that helps.
