Installing Dell Backup &n Recovery

I posted this in the wrong forum yesterday (lapto).

I recently had a fresh install on Win 8.1 on my computer. I downloaded and installed Dell Backup and Recovery. I went through the process and rebooted as requested. Afterwords it went on for and hour and a half installing itself while stating that it was creating a base image. I never got past 47% and even seems to have restarted itself when the percentage dropped back to 22%. I finally gave up and shut it down. Today I started the app from the Start menu and it stated that it was finalizing the launch. that seem to be going nowhere so I stopped the app and uninstalled it.  What is going on here?

You don't say what model computer you have. There are diff versions of dell backup for diff models as well as basic and premium versions. Also explain what you mean by fresh install.

You don't need the dell backup software especially the basic version that is very limited. Windows 8 has its own backup and recovery utilities including system image. The best backups are copies of your files stored externally. No backup program needed and your files can be reinstalled on any operating system.
