Installing drivers on Inspiron 600m

I reinstalled windows XP Pro on my Laptop Inspiron 600m. It appears several drivers didn’t install. I have yellow questions marks (in the Device Manager under the Other Devices listing) for the following: Ethernet Controller, Multimedia Audio Controller, Network Controller, PCI Modem, and Video Controller (VGA Compatible).

I went to the Dell website and burned the recommended 29 drivers for my service tag to a CD (using another computer; the laptop can’t connect to the internet or a network yet). When I put the CD in the laptop and go to Device Manger to install a driver for the Ethernet Controller the wizard can find the driver on the CD (same thing happen when I use the Windows CD).

I copied the 44en712a driver to the Dell/Drivers folder on the C drive of the laptop, but couldn’t find the setup.exe file to install it as the website says.

How do I install these drivers?

Your quick reply would be appreciated I am trying to get laptop up and running for church Sunday Morning (all 3 of the church’s PC were stolen on Thursday)!

Thanks in Advance,

Dave

First, you need to make sure that you installed the Notebook System software and Chipset drivers before even attempting to install any other device drivers.  Second, if you read the instructions on the download page, you will see that you have run the downloaded files from a folder on your hard drive to extract the driver files to anohter folder on your hard drive.  Once the extraction processes is completed, the driver installation file should run automatically to install the drivers.
