Installing Vista on new hard drive

Hello I have a Dell Dimension E520 (expired warranty and a hard drive that appears to be going south).

So here are the questions.

1.  Is it possible to replace the hard dive with a new one and reinstall / install Vista on it using the Dell supplied Vista OS DVD?

2.  After I installed or reinstalled Vista would I have to activate it with MS?

Yes, just replace hard disk, put in the install dvd and install.  You will enter your 25 digit key and when it has installed and you can get on the net. you can activate it over the net.  I have 2 different hard drives and one from factory has original 32 bit version. the other is 320 gig black scorpio from Western Digital and it has vista ultimate 64 bit. Not a dual boot, but dual hard drives. activation was no problem
