Installing Windows XP in Inspiron 1318 need drivers .

Hello, i bought inspiron 1318 few days ago, And I removed vista to install XP. Which went fine. but now i having problem with drivers. I am not being able to find any drivers that supports xp.

Any one please help me find drivers tht supports XP.

The list of required Vista drivers for the Inspiron 1318, in the order they should be installed, are:

  • Dell™ Notebook System Software
  • Intel® Mobile Chipset Driver
  • Mobile Intel® GMA X3100 Video Controller
  • Ricoh® R5C833 Media Card Controller
  • Broadcom® 59XX 10/100 Integrated Network Controller
  • Wireless driver (if applicable)
  • IDT® STAC 9205 Audio Driver
  • Modem driver
  • Dell Touch Pad Driver
  • Bluetooth® driver and stack

That list should help you identify the XP drivers you would need to get full functionality out of the system.  Dell doesn't provide support for XP on that system, however, since we do not sell it that way.

Thank you for the reply. it helped me but not fully. I found the driver for sound card. But most important i didnt find one for wireless device. I you can tell me which one device(company) or model number is installed in inspiron 1318 i think I can find one .

Please help. I really dont want to switch back to vista.

I was going to do the same thing but didnt since dell's support website didn't have the xp drivers for this laptop.  I ended up running running a virtual machine with windows xp and also linux for the programs i needed to run in xp and linux.  Why not try this option?  Vista aint that bad... lol.  anyways the wireless device brand and model number is "Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN Mini-Card".  Hope this helps.

hi, Thanks a lot for the link. It worked for me. Beside i would like to share the link from where I found sound card driver.So tht other guys who hate vista can get benefit from this .
