Internet Explorer 7 Upgrade

Currently running IE 6 in XP Home SP2.  Before I download and install IE 7 I want to check on the proper way in which to install it.

1)  Does IE 6 have to be removed first?

2) Suggestions on how to upgrade from IE 6 to IE 7.

3) Is there any thing that I need to be cautioned about in doing this or IE 7 ?

4) Any comments about IE7 ?????

Thanks...........

OK . . Now I understand . . I would just tough it out with the workaround until HP fixed the director . . they have too much at stake not to do that . . IE7 has too many security upgrades for me to go back to IE6

If you have tried the steps above and the solution for your product is not yet available, HP advises customers to use the following workaround:
  1. Open the HP Director software. Do not click anything else on your screen until Step 2 is completed.
  2. Press the Alt key and the Space bar together and select Minimize from the menu that displays in the upper left corner of the window. If necessary, click it again until HP Director minimizes.
The HP Director software now appears as an item on the Task Bar.
  3. Click HP Director on the Task Bar. The software opens and displays normally.
  4. Repeat the steps above each time the HP Director software is used.
NOTE: The HP Director window may appear larger than normal, but the software is functional.

It does not make sense . . but a lot about HP does make sense . . like posting that the Solution Center software replaced the Director and does not conflict with IE7, but not having a download for it . . . go figure! !

Looks like this is what they are suggesting you try . . guess it would not hurt to try . . Do you still have the original install disc in case you need it?

Yes, I do have my original CD.  Also, I have done that particular check and it showed no update for software or driver needed.  I think what you suggested is what HP was telling me to do, use different series software.  It was a long process , I have to use my CD to UNinstall; however I have not as yet checked out the software for download.  Not sure I want to do it.  I'm just so frustrated right now. I was thinking of re installing my original in case there was a glitch in there.  I sincerely thank you for all your research and time given this matter, you're great.  I'll keep you posted.
