Hi my name is Joan.

I was wandering if anyone could tell me ...is Microsoft Works the same as Microsoft Word...I used to have Word but with this computer I have Works and things do not appear the same...Can I therefore have both Works and Word on my computer at the same time??

No, they are totally different. Works Suite comes with Office's Word, but Word is not part of Works. You can have both on your computer with a custom installation, but if you have Office, you really don't have any need for Works.

If you want wordpad, it is located here in XP:

"C:\Program Files\Windows NT\Accessories\wordpad.exe"

Or you can do a Start> Search> For files or folders> and enter wordpad.exe to find the path (location).

jsmiffy:

This is the Microsoft product web site for Works and Works Suite which should help you understand the differences and what's included in each: http://www.microsoft.com/products/works/
