javascript problems- unable to listen to downloaded videos and music

Hi all. I have a Dell Dimension 5000. Until recently all was ok but then it developed several problems and I needed to totally re-format and reload xp and drivers.  Most of the problems have been sorted but still a few niggly ones. The most important of which is my daughter can no longer listen to music and videos on you tube. Each time she tries to listen to a vid a message appears to say that either javascript is not enabled or that she needs to update adobe flash player. I have reloaded flash player and as far as I know javascript is enabled, is there something I am missing or have not loaded again when I re-formatted. Many thanks, soukio.

Might be better to start from scratch:

For Java, make sure you remove ALL versions you might have before installing the newest one:

Instead of using the web version to automatically install it, try downloading and installing it manually. The very latest version is JRE 6 update 6, available here (5th one down):

For Flash, Adobe gives instructions here.  Note that you have to use the Flash uninstaller they provide to completely remove it.  Again I'd download the executable installer linked to on that page instead of using the Web version

Hope that helps.
