Large Icons on the desktop

This is probably very rudimentary problem to solve, but my daughter somehow made not just the desktop icons huge, but everything within the window huge.  I can't find the control to make everything normal size again.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?  I appreciate any and all help.

It is possible that she changed the Display Properties -> Advanced -> DPI Settings.  I would start looking there.

I've been to the display icon on the control panel and there is nothing that I can find that will allow me to make the icons smaller.  Under the appearance tab, there is an "effects" button.  After selecting it, there is a "Display large icons" toggle.  This is de-selected, yet I still have humongous icons.  What gives?

That did it.  I bumped it up to 800x600 and now its normal.  Although I can't figure out how my 4 year old managed to change this.  My wife says she had nothing to do with it.

Thanks for your help.

hi there, i read the problem with HUGE ICONS. i think i can add some.

just want to know did you reinstall your operating system?

if not follow the following steps:

1. put the pointer in the center of the background screen then right click on it.

2. left click properties.

3. click settings.

4. adjust your screen resolution to 1024 by 768 pixels or depending upon your prefer size of the icons.

**NOTE: If ever you have 2 options only, exit on that screen and go to device manager. Most likely the driver is not properly installed. if you found out that there's no display adapter on the list or even OTHER DEVICES then you have to reinstall the video driver using the Drivers and Utilities disc.:smileywink:

Go back to your "Display icon" in the Control Panel.  Go to the Settings tab,  and follow the information I gave in my last post.
