Latitude E5540: Windows 10 does not boot after KB4088776
Hello,
I have a serious issue with my Latitude and Win10 Update. I tried to perform it 5 times already, But I'm always stuck in the following loop.
1. Running my E5540 on Win 10, update 1709 is downloading (it is called Windows 10 Fall Creators Update).
2. After the download is completed, several new restarts occur. Finally, the Update 1709 is sucessfully applied. Windows still works stable at this level.
3. Running on 1709, further update, KB4088776 is downloading.
4. As soon as KB4088776 is downloaded, windows asks to reboot. I agree.
5. From now, Dell is dead. Windows can't start. It passes POST, but fails to launch Win. There comes a blue error screen for about 0.3 seconds, and it disappears. Using the camera I was able to catch the error message: "IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL".
The only way to use Dell, is to revert to the earlier version of Windows. After I revert, I go to the bullet point 1. of this description. So the story goes on in a loop again.
So it is an endless loop. In the meantime:
A. I upgraded all of the drivers -> the loop continues.
B. I reverted to the native language of my windows -> the loop continues.
C. I removed all of the peripherials connected to the Latitude -> the loop continues.
D. After first launch of 1709 (bullet point 2 above), I perform several restarts manually to make sure 1709 works stable. And I can confirm it works stable. But as soon as KB4088776 comes, dell dies.
I really have no clue, how to break this endless loop.
May I ask you for hints?
