Logging on and off problems

Hello forum friends,

My puter inexplicably crashed on Wednsday morning.  All my data was lost.  With some meager help from a Dell tech, I reloaded my Windows XP among other programs.

The problem is that nothing is the same, especially when logging on and off.  Before all I had to do was turn on puter, then click on my picture and name icon to get to my desktop.  From there I could log on to the net if I chose to. 

Now I get at least three windows like the connection manager, a box that says "owner" and demands my password and one that I don't know what it is doing. lol!  The same applys to log off and shut down.  When I hit log off, I get another box that offers me to log on again and also demands my password.  It's ridiculous, and I've been in everything I can think of to correct this.  No such luck.

Does anyone with a lot more computer savvy than me have any ideas on how to fix this mess?  If so I would love the help.
