Read this for help with displaying "My Recent Documents" on the Start Menu.

Mine shows that folder it to be hidden.    Is "show hidden files" on?  (Tools - Folder Options - View)

Show hidden files has been and still is checked.  The "my recent documents" used to show up when I right clicked on start and selected EXPLORE.  Now they do not.

Thanks for your suggestion.  I went to the help item and followed directions.  After typing in ADVANCED the "tree" opened, but no MY RECENT DOCUMENTS.

Before I clicked on ADVANCED there was a box to CLEAR RECENT DOCUMENTS AND PROGRAMS.   This gets me closer, but I am still baffled as to why when I do a search it gives a path as I indicated in the original post, but when I follow that path the MY RECENT DOCUMENTS folder is not there..

Have you changed from the Windows XP Start Menu to the Classic Start Menu? Recent Docs don't appear on the Classic menu, by default, and require a registry change.

Is there some setting in your security software that's been (accidently) changed to hide that folder?

You may have a registry error which this might fix. To be safe, manually create a System Restore point before you make any registry changes. :emotion-5:

Copy/paste the text below exactly, including blank line in the middle into an empty Notepad document. Save the file on your desktop as "recent.reg".  Include the " " before and after the name so Notepad doesn't add .txt to it. Now close all open windows and programs. Double-click on recent.reg and accept the offer to modify the registry. Reboot when it's done. Fixed?

 Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoRecentDocsHistory"=dword:00000000
"NoRecentDocsMenu"=dword:00000000
