Mass storage device Fault

Hi everyone,

I have a recurring issue with my card readers.  When I remove my SD card the safe way as requested a fault is shown on my drive in device manager and I cannot use any card readers until I reboot. I get the message'

Windows cannot use this hardware device because it has been prepared for "safe removal", but it has not been removed from the computer. (Code 47)

To fix this problem, unplug this device from your computer and then plug it in again.

Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available.

One thing I have noticed on start up is the safely remove icon on my task bar is always there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

SD cards are not hardware--more like a cd or dvd disk-- and should be removed without using the Safely remove hardware utility. Just remove it after waiting until it is no longer active or being accessed by the computer.
