Max CPU usage
Alright here is the basic scenario of what is going on.
I am trying to play some games on this Inspiron 5100 Notebook that I bought.
Couple of problems. Everytime I try to play either game, the CPU usage jumps to 100% and stays there.
I upgraded the memory adding another piece of 512 MB.
Same problem. Format did not help either.
This is not very good considering that this laptop cannot keep up to my P3 500 with 128 MB of total RAM running Windows ME playing the same game when is has 6X the memory and this laptop is a 2.52 Ghz.
I am running out of ideas and desperately need some help before I throw this thing out the window.

i installed the above and now i can't get into the msn premium software. it won't uninstall or fully install after trying all types of removals. msn thinks that the mcaffee removed something from the xp op system that prevents msn premium / msn explorer from working. IE works. MSN messanger works.. I'm dumbfounded.- Make sure that you are spyware and virus free (link in my signature).
Update Windows (Critical Updates and Service Packs only.)
Install fresh drivers for your video and sound cards.
Clean some background applications (link in my signature).
Call game publisher to make sure that the game is XP compatible.
Check their site for possible updates.
If after all this the game doesn’t work (and the rest of your applications run fine), get a different game.

Is the game supposed to work correctly with XP, according to the site that distributes it? There are techniques for detecting keyboard and other input that work properly with earlier Microsoft operating systems that result in "hogging" the processor under XP in the way you're seeing.
Have you checked for help at the game distributor's Web site? XP has a "Program Compatibility Wizard" that sometimes helps with problems like this. Have you tried it?
