I'm experiencing the exact same problem. I have tried installing the Dell supplied version, and also upgrading right from Media Direct with the same results. Any help out there? Dell are you listening?

 You may want to try redownloading the file, this sounds like an issue with a corrupted download.

I did re-download several times, always the same  result. Even tried the update function from within media center, same result.
 
What I did get to work is I rebooted and installed using Windows safe mode, no networking.
No Events found!
