Micrsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library messege whem closing roxio.

I have a Dimension E520 with Roxio Creator Plus factory installed.Which I have had for about 2 weeks about 2 or 3 days ago everytime that I used this app. upon closure I started getting Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library messege which reads as follows   Runtime Error! Program: ...ommon Files\Sonic Shared\Soci Central\Main\Mediahub.exe

R6025
 -pure virtual function call

could someone please tell me what is causing this and what can be done to fix it?

This has something got to do with Windows Media Player 11. If you have it uninstall it and your Roxio will work fine without any errors. I have also asked Dell for this error report but they also have no clue for it.

Is there a possible to get a patch from Microsoft to fix this problem?

No I don't think that it's a problem of Microsoft. It's a problem of Sonic/Roxio, it's they who have to give the patch. I have already out this question to Dell as well a Sonic/Roxio they have not responded to it. May be you could try contacting Dell because these softwares are customized as per the OEM's and they have to provide a solution for it.

I have spoken to Dell support about the problem. But the person I spoke with was a hardware specialist and told me in order to speak to a software specialist about the problem,I would have to pay for Dell on call service.I thought maybe i would be able to get a solution forit on here. But maybe I need to try the support chat feature. If I get a resolution for the problem I will post it asap.

I get these same errors on my brand new (3 week old) XPS 410 as well as a Dimension 5150! Quite frustrating.

I talked with Dell...they said I need to go to Roxio. So, I talked with Roxio and they said Dell was responsible for releasing the patch because this is Dell's version of Roxio.

I'm brand new to Dell...have been a Dell customer for less than a month...but I'm starting to get very discouraged with my XPS system and with their support staff.

If anyone knows what I can do to help get this resolved, please let me know.

Thanks,
Michael

Apparently the only solution at this time is to uninstall WMP 11 (rollback). Check the MS site about this as there are three things listed in Add/Remove Programs to be undone. If you do that, I suspect you end up with WMP 10, even if you started with 9.

I can uninstall WMP11, but I'm more worried that this problem will never be resolved. Does Dell have a history of fixing these kinds of problems? My understanding is that Vista comes with WMP11, so will this problem exist after I apply my free upgrade? How can I get these questions answered?

Thanks for the suggestion and the reply.

all i got from dell support was that there was a conflict somewhere duh!!!! they told me the only other option they could give me was to do a complete pc restore or i could try to resolve the issue with microsoft to see if media player was the problem

I have exchanged numerous e-mails with a Dell representative. He is insisting that WMP11 does work for SOME customers along with the Dell supplied Roxio software. Can anyone confirm that the combination of Dell supplied Roxio software and WMP11 do work together?

This representative insists that a system restore will correct this...even after I install WMP 11, but I don't believe it. A system restore is a lot of work...and I don't want to invest the time without a pretty high level of assurance it will work.

Any thoughts?

lee337phx, Excellent reply. Thanks for sharing.

I also clicked on the "unresolved issue" button. I've been corresponding with a Dell employee named Greg. He is in some sort of "high level" support area or something. He is the one who has basically suggested all of the same uninstall/reinstall/rollback etc., steps.

I agree that it seems like this is something that Dell and Roxio need to resolve. If my computer was 1-3 years old and having this problem, I could handle the fact that I have "dated" software. But, I'm talking a computer that was built and shipped in December! It is a brand-new XPS 410 "the best." I think it should either be compatible with Microsoft updates and products for a year, or else patches and updates provided at no cost by Dell. Is that too much to ask?

I have experienced this on multiple machines, and also seen errors from Roxio software in MediaHub.exe (search this forum for that term, and you will get the same type thread). I've had several emails with tech support, with suggestions to reinstall Roxio, reinstall WMP, reinstall everything, install some 3rd party codec packs - none resolve it - it appears that it is definitely a conflict with Roxio (Dell Edition) and WMP11 (the rollback to WMP9 (on my systems) does provide a workaround, but only temporary, until this is resolved).

I have consistently mentioned in dialog with Dell tech support that it isn't *my* problem, that if they'd search the forums, it is pretty much all Dell systems with Roxio (Dell Edition) that upgrade to WMP11...and thus, the relationship between Dell and Roxio is the channel that needs to resolve this (I'm pretty sure that a patch from Roxio needs to be generated, but because of the OEM/3rdParty catch-22, I think it needs to go from Roxio to Dell, and then made available via Dell "downloads for my system" methodology).

Yesterday, the tech of the day actually generated a case number for me - by having this, there is a button at the bottom of the Dell home page called "Unresolved Issue" (which you can't submit without a case number) - I have submitted this via that route, and am waiting to see if any response occurs...it might "help the cause" if several of these were in progress - I can't seem to impress via "warranty support channels" that it is a widespread issue, not *me*.

The conflict is Roxio (Dell Edition) and Microsoft Windows Media Player 11. Recreation is simple - get a Dell machine, with Roxio (Dell Edition)...run Roxio, exit Roxio (no problem)....install WMP11, run Roxio, exit Roxio - you will get multiple errors in MediaHub.exe , and possibly the C++ messages also.

I haven't had much luck via the Roxio/Sonic support forums, but one would think that non-Dell Edition Roxio users would be experiencing something similar?

thanx, MJ - I did get a response from the Resolution Expert Center at Dell...who advised rollback of WMP as the only available workaround...(which those who look through these Forum's have known for some time)...I again expressed the scope of this as many Dell users, and reiterated that a Roxio-Dell solution was in need by many...we'll see if things move any further or better...

I've also checked the Roxio/Sonic Forums, and find that HP users, a few external CD/DVD drive manufacturers, and even some box/retail Sonic/Roxio users have discovered the same issue...

It is, as a result of technology upgrades implemented by Microsoft. But I don't think that a 3rd party product can just ignore core technology updates and not update as well -
  a) because they wouldn't even BE in the business if there wasn't an MS platform to create product for...
  b) because these newly implemented technology items are standard core of Vista, and anything else moving forward from MS.
  c) MS sets the standards. Right/wrong/indifferent - but if you want to sell to the tremendous volume of Windows users, you have to play by their framework.

Currently, I sympathize with Dell - their reputation for providing quality, reliable, working, product has many points of dependency on other manufacturers, particularly software - but they accept money for this, and therefore take on much responsibility - they also carry a lot of weight with their suppliers...and it is for this reason that I think these types of resolution have to be channelled through them, and cannot be resolved by individual users.

I must stop, before my colleagues begin accusing me of becoming a Democrat.
