mpeg2 missing after reinstall of XP OS
Sorry if this is the wrong forum to post in, wasn't really sure where this belonged. Did a quick search but didn't find an answer to my question.
I reinstalled my XP OS a while back and haven't been able to play DVDs on my Inspiron E1505 because I am missing my mpeg2 decoder. Do I have to buy a new decoder or can I reinstall the one I had? Is it a driver or just a piece of software in general?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Download and install the free K Lite Codec Pack. (either the "Full" or "Mega" version) It has any codec you will ever need.

You should reinstall the dvd software player that came with your system i.e. powerdvd or windvd.

Thanks for the help
I've been looking but haven't been able to find the media player discs. Is there anywhere I can download the software or will I just have to buy a new set of discs?

The dvd software player software has to be bought but the codec option suggested above may also work.
