MSN Messenger, Version 7.5
I recently upgraded from Windows ME to XP - Home Edition. XP includes Windows Messenger 4.7 (4.7.3001), and I also have MSN Messenger, Version 7.5 (Build 7.5.0324) carried over from when I had Windows ME.
Are both messenger systems the same, and should I get rid of the MSN one? If not, I would like to know how to uninstall the MSN one and re-install as at present there are two icons for it in the right-hand side of the Taskbar, one with a little red circle and white x in it and the other is a little black square. (There is another icon for MSN on the left side of the Taskbar as well.)
I have a Dell Dimension 4100 Desktop computer with Windows XP - Home Edition.

Ok Since no one has answered yet, Windows messenger is a simple version of MSN messenger built into the windows operating system. It doesn't have all the features of MSN. My recommendation is unless you have multiple MSN id's. is to go to add remove programs, window's components and remove WINDOWS messenger. Keep MSN.
Window's messenger is a good back up for when MSN won't function.

Thanks for your response. I am going to leave both Messenger files intact and use the MSN one.
