MSN Messenger
I recently put my Dell 8300 2.6 GHZ on line, Windows XP and cannot transmit my audio when in contact using either MSN Messenger or Windows Messenger. Everything checks out that the program is working and you can see the audio bar moving when talking but your contact does not hear you. Everything has been checked to make sure the mike is not muted. Also using the audio tuning wizard in either program indicates everything is working. I am not operating behind a firewall. My computer has the SoundBlaster Live 5.1 installed.I also have the latest version of the programs installed. I have tried voice communication with two different parties and neither can hear my audio. I previously used MSN Messenger on my older computer which had Windows 98 and no problems there. I was also using the same cable modem. Any help is most appreciated.

This is Dells answer to solving the problem of being unable to transmit audio to another msn messenger user.
It worked for me.
press START then CONTROL PANEL classic view for XP users. then double click NETWORK CONNECTIONS then right click LAN or HIGH SPEED INTERNET then left click PROPERTIES then in GENERAL remove the tick mark with a left click opposite QoS Packet Scheduler press ok and Bingo you should be able to talk on your meessenger. Good luck

i set the Qos out, but still no audio in MSN.
i've been working for this problem for hours now and still not working, this make me really angry
.
Also other familly members with DELL have the same problem.

I had the same problem.
BTW. If you replace the OS with W2000, the problem goes away.
If you run XP, you have the problem.
The problem is cuased by the ON-Board NIC card and/or it's software drivers.
Disable the onboard Nic, fit a PCI NIC card, and everything works fine.
(Yes, you loose a slot, but it is a solution, until such time as Dell addresses the matter, and the last I heard from them when I spoke to them was that -- the onboard Nic works for AOL and Yahoo, use them instead of MSN !!! )
