My Way Search Assistant

I just examined a brand new Dell Dimension 4700 and found that Dell is shipping this product with My Way Search Assistant pre-installed.  What the heck is Dell thinking?   This is well known spyware and is identified as such by major anti-spyware vendors including Sunbelt.

Does anyone have any insight into this or is it just one more revenue stream for Dell?

Thanks,

Vern

How did you remove search assistant? I have Ad-Aware and Spybot, Microsoft AntiSpyware and Norton Security, and the new security supplied by SP2. No hint of this spyware and I was using Dell My Way on Internet Explorer as my default page until I started using Mozilla Firefox. It doesn't show up on Add/Remove programs, so I went to Search and entered http://help.myway.com/searchassistant.html, found it and deleted it. How do you know if it's gone? Thanks!

It shows up on the add/remove program list.  I just went there to remove it.

Removing via Add/Remove will not get rid of all the spyware features of this browser hijacker. Go here for detailed instructions:
