Mysterious Problem
I've had a problem lately, that I'm not sure how to fix. It has two symptoms that I don't understand. Any thoughts on diagnostics are appreciated:
1) The following error occurs on the welcome screen (I autoload my only profile):
Windows cannot load the user's profile but has logged you on with the default profile for the system.
DETAIL - The system has attempted to load or restore a file into the registry, but the specified file is not in a registry file format.
2) The computer hangs after 30 minutes of inactivity. I have turned off everything I can think of that works on a timer (screen saver, etc.).
I did previously have a problem that required me to make a new user profile, as the old one got corrupted (how I have no idea). However, this new problem did not immediately occur afterwards, so I don't know if it's related. Also, I have no apparent problems other than the two mentioned.
