.NET Framework Initialization Error

I recently had to reformat my hard drive. When I uploaded my backup and got running, I found and corrected a few minor errors. However, when I start up, I get the following message: "hpqthb08.exe - .NET Framework Initialization error" and am told to "set they registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework\InstallRoot to point to the .NET Framework install location" -- (.exe file is for my printer/scanner)

I tried to download the .NET Framework files from Microsoft Update (matches the error exactly) but immediately get a "Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Setup" error showing "Error 1935." (during installation of "Microsoft.Vsa.Vb.CodeDOMProcessor,,,"

I am BY NO MEANS an expert in this stuff and would appreciate any help that can be had.

There is an order to installing the XP drivers and if you don't follow it, you get errors. Most important is the Notebook or Desktop System Software that must be installed first along with the Chipset drivers so the rest of the drivers will install properly. Get it at Downloads & Drivers for your model. Use the Support link above.
