New MicroSoft Movie Maker Program for VISTA

Apparently the OEM MS VISTA Movie Maker 6.0 that comes with VISTA is causing many problems playing digital videos (such as the lack of any ability to play a DV-AVI camrecorder movie on my XPS 410 Vista Home Premium).
 
Microsoft just released a new Movie Maker 2.6 for VISTA users who already have the OEM Movie Maker 6.0 installed on their computers.
 
I haven't tried it out yet, but I will tonight when I get home. What a bust digital movie production has been so far using VISTA.......sure hope it works better than getting the Blue Screen of Death 100% of the time with Vista Movie Maker 6.0.........
 
 
  Overview
 
Movie Maker 2.6 is for Windows Vista users whose computer cannot run the Vista version of Movie Maker.

To test if your computer can run the Vista version of Movie Maker:

1. From the Start menu, click All Programs.
2. Click Windows Movie Maker.

If Movie Maker launches, you should not download version 2.6.

If you get an error message that says, "Windows Movie Maker cannot start because your video card does not support the required level of hardware acceleration or hardware acceleration is not available", download and install Movie Maker 2.6.

 

System Requirements
  • Supported Operating Systems: Windows Vista; Windows Vista Business; Windows Vista Enterprise; Windows Vista Home Basic; Windows Vista Home Premium; Windows Vista Starter; Windows Vista Ultimate
Movie Maker 2.6 requires a version of Microsoft Windows Vista that has the Vista version of Movie Maker already installed.

Hi SkyPup,
 
  My Movie Maker launched okay but it couldn't recognize my webcam.  I have returned that webcam for Microsoft's NX-6000 and hope that will work better.  If MM still won't recognize that camera I will download the new version.  Thanks,

Yeah, that fix won't do anything for all the Blue Screen crashes I get in Vista attemping to view or edit a DV-AVI file or import one from my digital video cameras, I've already got the nVidia GS-7000 graphics card, even though Adobe Premiere will not let the card use any hardware acceleration......
 
What a hassle trying to use a Vista box for digital movie entertainment!
